Peter Pudge Nubby: A fictional gnome-like character from children’s bedtime stories. Famous for making assinine assumptions, stupid comments and ill timed opinions on Urban Radio based solely on arrogance, ignorance and a false sense of entitlement.
I blame Byron Crawford for not finishing this dude off when he had the chance to.
So yesterday I posted a piece here called “Liza Rios, Let Me Walk You Through Them Numbers Girlfriend”. In it I loosely crunched some numbers breaking down my understanding of why Liza Rios, Big Pun’s widow, might be wrong in blaming Fat Joe for all of her current financial woes. My post was based solely on the hundreds of deals I negotiated during my years as an entertainment attorney in the music industry. It was well received amongst the Internets. Imagine my shock when, upon waking up and logging onto Twitter earlier today, I was greeted with a public and blindsided vicious attack from famed Hot 97 radio hack Peter Rosenberg. In said heinous attack, Rosenberg made light of my numbers crunching by tweeting:

Now, I have no clue who this Sindanu fellow Rosenberg was maligning me to, seems like he’a a French chap but, as a tried and true veteran of several blog battles, I surely recognize unprovoked shots when I see them. Automatically jumping into beef mode, and loving the smell of combat in the morning, I went in on dude, calling him out for his reckless attack. His response was kinda slick, playing innocent like there was no ill will in his words. His tweet:

Adding insult to injury, feigning that he had no clue as to who I was (even though he stated earlier that he had read my post), I responded by going in further, calling him all types of radio hack and what not. Now I was raised to fully appreciate the competitive and combative nature of this art and sport that is Hip Hop. I mean, we are Hip Hop, no? So in the spirit of doing what I do, I continued to taunt, jab and test the mettle of Mr. Rosenberg on Twitter. At some point, I gave him the opportunity to publicly refute the validity of my calculations. Then Twitter crashed and running off to attend several meetings, I left the ensuing beef alone for a few hours. Eager to jump back into the din of battle, I logged onto my Twitter account later on in the afternoon. Scurryin to and fro in an attempt to evade the point of his attack and the premise of my challenge, similar in nature to the fabled Pudge Nuddy who, when cornered by gnome hunters for their misdeeds, will do any and everything within their power to avoid capture, Rosenberg’s response read:

Peter, touché, Big Pun was indeed signed initially to Loud/ RCA. In writing my post yesterday, I initially remembered that, but in researching for facts, all mention of Pun’s albums listed were of them being released on Relativity/Sony, in some sources, Relativity/Loud. I guess I can attribute that to the Sony/ BMG merger that took place back in 2004. You familiar with that? However, getting back to the prime point of your attack, I still offer you the opportunity to prove my numbers to be of that fuzzy crap nature you boldly proclaimed hours earlier.
Please understand, I mean you no harm, I’m just having fun. Isn’t this thing we have here exciting?
As I intensified my shock and awe twitter attack tactics, calling on you to respond, I got some calls and a couple of tweets, emails too, calling on me to fall back, stating that I was getting a bit too carried away. And they were right, I did get carried away. Maybe I’m just stupid like that, immature too, but please understand, I take my work very seriously, and when I see folk aiming to cast a shadow on my credibility, well, sometimes I don’t know how to act.
Still, getting back to the matter, I await your response. If you don’t feel my background as an entertainment attorney allows me the freedom to give informed analysis on deals like the one Pun signed to Terror Squad, lets get some other folk that you have faith in to chime in on this matter. Attorneys like Kenny Meiselas, Fred Davis, Tim Mandelbaum, Andy Tavel, or any other notable entertainment attorney you feel has a firm handle on the crunching of numbers. I hear your brother’s an attorney as well, does he practice entertainment law? We can call him, (though I believe he’d be more inclined to push the argument in your favor). Also, the attorney who represents you. Who represents you Peter? I’m open to discussing this matter with him/ her. I’d even like to suggest Wendy Day of The Rap Coalition, who has overseen and been involved in the structuring of many a legendary deal. Whomever you want B. Let’s have a beer summit even, moderated by the lovely Miss Info. I like Heineken. We could do it on air or we can keep the press at least 40 feet away as we break down whatever issues you have with me and my numbers in privacy. If there’s a consensus proving your point, that my numbers were “fuzzy” and “crap”, I can live with that. I’ll even retract my attacks on you and drop an extensive apology post here at the Daily Math. I’m able to openly admit my flaws.
However, if you’re wrong, and I do believe you are wrong, you know you’ll owe me an apology right? A big fat one. Your voice carries a lot of weight Pete. Over at Emmis, you speak the truth, right? So, once proven wrong, be a man about it and let’s have you deliver that apology on air, where you do your thing, on Hot 97. I need that. The Internets need to hear the truth too. Hot 97 needs to keep their listeners informed as to the truth too, don’t you agree?
Let’s go Pete. You started this. Don’t be acting all Pudge Nubby-ish, ducking me and avoiding this brouhaha you instigated. Plus, this is, as I said above, all in fun.

Fact of the matter is America was a society built on seperation, aggression and competition. So when you have those three ingredients having a society where everyone is “equal” is nonexsistent. And no amount of Obama victories,Jay-z buying the Nets and Puff Daddy shiny suit dance moves will ever change that.

One last final thought before I bounce to more important matters. Everything I have said jokes about Jews aside ( even though alot of it is true) is completely fact. I don’t see why folks are acting like CJ is “going apeshit”, this is a difference of opinion between two men and CJ is asking Rosenberg to come with some alternative substance since he disagrees with CJ’s “loose” assessment of the numbers. More so than the numbers, it may have been the dismissive tone in Rosenberg’s comments that ignited some of that passion you hear in CJ’s post. Nobody is above being questioned or challenged, not even Hot 97 deejays “Where Hip Hop Lives”, sike…GTFOH.

First of all… Yo CJ, this is your blog and it is your right to say what you like. What these people seem to forget is that your experience in the industry has given you the foresight to be able to speak numbers (be it assumed or factual)that most of us do not know about.
Second, if it is wrong to get emotional about your profession or passion (be it past, current or future), then WTF are you working for??? The money? Believe that if you told a surgeon that he wasn’t shit, your ass would still not die on the operating table. He would make sure that your ass survived so that you would have to bow down and thank his ass. Don’t blame CJ for taking anything personal.
