100 Greatest Quotes From “The Wire” In 10 Minutes

The GOAT of cable tv series’ best lines from its five seasons tastefully squeezed into a one ten-minute video. My favorite part starts at the 8:38 mark. When they drop the box set, best believe I’m going ham, sheeeeeeeeeeeeeit.

  • Classic series. They left out a SMH quote: “Omar don’t scare.” Bout time for me to pull these DVDs out again.

The Wire box set was released about a year ago. The Wire truly was one of the best shows ever created. I decided not to buy the box set because I heard that the dvd’s easily fall out of the holders. I bought the seasons individually when Circuit City when out of business earlier this year. I was able to buy each season for 20 dollars.

  • I copped the box set last year, expecting some amazing extras…Nah! Definitely being the dopest cable TV show, HBO really fronted on the complete set of The Wire. The Sopranos and Six Feet Under came with books, soundtracks, screen test, etc. The Wire has none of that, just a 5 minute gag reel that wasn’t even funny. CJ, wait until that joint is at Best Buy @ 1/2 price. They ALWAYS do that for HBO box sets right before X-mas!

    Race Matters…always

HBO—even after countless comments by the media that The Wire was one of the best TV Shows ever—licensed The Wire to of all basic cable nets…BET, not AMC where the Sopranos and Mad Men is housed…

the box set is a waste of cash unless u cop from eBay

@ Tone: no doubt Sharpe James is another classic character in the annals of city gov’t, but I don’t think Clay Davis is based on him. The real Clay Davis appears briefly in the Melvin Williams segment of “American Gangster.” I don’t remember his name, but he is the black dude listed as a former US Senator from MD.

They missed a classic quote that Prop Joe said to Slim after Joe spoke with Omar: you just witnessed me dig my own grave and crawl out of it.

  • All in the game, yo.

That’s crazy, def. a lotta quotables in there. I think they slept on a couple tho’…

like when Gus said “it always starts with something true, but then before you know it he’s the only one who just happens to be on the street when a mini-mall blows up and a head comes rolling down the street with the eyes still blinking” I dunno, I liked it.

Nah Dog, they missed another great line. When Kinard hits Dukie with the soda plastic bottle and says “Aint nothing wrong with me, I’m out here getting shit done. and you at home acting like a lil bitch!!”
    Classic!!!

  • Yes, I am surprised at the lack of Kennard quotes. I recommend waiting till Black Friday to cop the DVD box set. I got mine around that time last year and it was only 90 bucks.

  • Nah! just before Wallace gets merked, he says to Bodie, “I’m a nigga yo”

and just before Stringer gets it from Omar and Brother Mouzone “…seem like, I can’t do nothing that’ll change yall minds…Well get on with it, muthafu…” –BLAKA BLAKA BLAKA!!!

I think the fourth season of The Wire is the best written television season in the history of tv. every single word of that season was important. props to HBO for allowing that show to not receive the credit it deserved.
